Suzanne Lacy (Buffalo, New York, 1991)
Lacy created a residency to consider cancer, death, and the workings
of a large Cancer research hospital in upstate New York. Under the
auspices of Artpark, she met hourly over seven working days to conduct
interviews with patients, doctors, nurses, researchers, and administrators
of Roswell Memorial Hospital, recorded as diagrams and notes on
large newsprint paper. The interviews took place in a vacant room
on a children's ward, where a temporary installation of the diagrams
was built upon each day and displayed for project participants.
The project was documented graphically by Lacy and Leslie Becker.
