Suzanne Lacy, Amana Harris, Maxine Wyman, Unique Holland, Lisa Findley, Leuckessia Hirsh, Leslie Becker, Annice Jacoby, and Alameda County Superintendent of Schools Sheila Jordan (1997 Oakland and San Francisco)
The class focused on self, relationships, health care, and public
policy. The young women had on-site childcare, transportation, lunches,
a stipend, and an enriched educational program with professional
artists, graphic designers, and architects. Thirty-two young women
graduated in a ceremony that included commendations from Congresswoman
Barbara Lee and a speech by then-Superintendent of Schools Carolyn
Getridge.
