Suzanne Lacy with Barbara Clausen and thirty young women from
Vancouver High Schools (Vancouver Canada, 1997-8_)
The Turning Point Project was a two-year collaboration
of girls and adults to identify and enhance the public voice of
Vancouver teenage girls. The downtown face of Vancouver was transforming
due to an influx of Chinese money from Hong Kong, soon to revert
to Chinese rule. British citizens were moving and sending their
children to Vancouver to go to school, causing a rapid increase
in Chinese and southeast asian population. This project explored
multi-racial perspectives among teen girls and how they “situated”
themselves and were situated within the public sphere.
