Beer Bucket/Champagne Bucket, 2008

Chronicling the impacts of the 2008 recession on “main street” in Tulare, California, this multimedia installation includes a series of photographs of a yard sale in the San Joaquin Valley, lined with stacks of used clothing. Written on the stacks is a narrative on “beer stocks,” or stocks that serve low-income households, and “champagne stocks,” which serve high-income households, along with advertisements for local yard sales and notes on the movement of California cotton agriculture to foreign countries.
