Tulare: Garage Sale, 2008

Tulare: Garage Sale  is a series of photographic and video installations that chronicles the centrality of the yard sale to the economies and social landscapes of small towns in the San Joaquin Valley. The project depicts yard sales as sites where friends and family convene and where neighbors of different ethnic backgrounds come together to create micro-economies on which working-class towns like Tulare depend. Some pictures include members of Lacy’s own family. Tulare: Garage Sale has been exhibited at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery; Track 16 Gallery, Culver City, California; and Sweeney Art Gallery at the University of California, Riverside.
