Mr. and Mrs. Peak, 2017
One year after The Circle and the Square performance took place, an installation was premiered in the same mill in Brierfield.
Mr. and Mrs Peak, a video by Graham Kay, was displayed in a separate room from the Circle and Square two screen projection, on two 96 inch television monitors sit side by side, displaying on each a handsome old man and woman who had spent their lives working in the mill. They describe their working conditions and the deafening sound, where workers invented elaborate sign language and elaborate gestures – continuing their individual interviews with and sometimes without sound.
